Gift certificates

• Gift certificates can only be redeemed at the same web site, towards the purchase of any products except gift certificates.
• Any unused balance will be placed in the recipient's gift certificate account.
• If the order exceeds the amount of the gift certificate, the balance must be paid by the customer.
• Gift certificates and unused portions of gift certificates expire one year from the date of issue.
• Gift certificates can't be purchased using discounts.
• A gift certificate cannot be used to purchase a new one or in an order where you are ordering one.
• Only can gift certificate can be purchased at a time and only one can be used in one order.
• Certificates have a minimum and maximum amount set up in Q-Shop.
• Certificates can be set to be authorized at the time or purchase or manually authorized by the shop administrator.

This is the process followed to purchase and use a certificate:

1. A customer purchases a gift certificate specifying the quantity, the sender, the recipient's details and a message.
2. If the shop is set up to pre-authorize certificates automatically the receiver will get an email notification.
3. If the shop is set to manually authorized certificates the shop owner can authorize it in the gift certificate details page. Once authorized the recipient will receive an email confirmation.
4. The recipient can use the certificate in the checkout process by entering one claim code.
5. If the order total is less than the gift certificate the remaining will be kept in the certificate for future purchases. Otherwise the certificate will be exhausted and cannot be used again.

Gift certificates are also highly configurable; you can enable/disable them, set the minimum and maximum amounts, pre-authorize or require manual administrator authorization, and expiration period.
